Chelsea star reveals Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's honest opinion on abrupt Thomas Tuchel sacking

Kepa Arrizabalaga revealed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been left shocked by Todd Boehly's decision to sack Thomas Tuchel. The 33-year-old striker joined Chelsea from Barcelona on transfer deadline day, penning a two-year deal which includes the option of a further year.

football.london understand that Thomas Tuchel was a driving force behind Aubameyang's move to west London this summer amid the club's mission to sign a number nine following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. The former Chelsea boss was said to have specifically identified the former Arsenal captain as a priority signing.

But, little over a week after swapping the Camp Nou for Stamford Bridge, Tuchel was dismissed from his post as head coach and replaced by Graham Potter. And, according to Kepa, Aubameyang was 'a little in shock'.

As quoted by The Sun, the Blues goalkeeper said: "The truth is that the first days he arrived a little scared. He was a little in shock, a lot of change, the last two or three days were very crazy for him, everything that happened to him was a misfortune."

Aubameyang has since validated Kepa's concerns in an interview. The Chelsea No. 9 said: "Everyone knows the relationship that I had with Thomas.

"It’s always sad when someone leaves the club. Obviously, I just saw him for a few days. When you play football you have to adapt very quickly to some moments in the season, this can happen."

The Gabon international continued by admitting that he is yet to speak to Tuchel since the sacking but imagined how the German may be feeling after an abrupt exit. Aubameyang added: "I think he was a bit frustrated and sad, obviously.

"I will try to talk to him as soon as possible. It’s been a crazy week for all of us, that’s part of life, we have to adapt. I think it’s a bit of sadness at the moment, hopefully we’ll get back to better days soon.

"Obviously, I think it’s a bit strange for everybody, not only for me, but as I said, this is football, you have to adapt. When you play for Chelsea you need results as soon as possible, that’s why I’m a bit frustrated today."
