Chelsea star reportedly flies to London early to sort transfer and kickstart Todd Boehly revamp

The summer transfer window is now open and it's the start of a really busy few months for Chelsea. The Blues are set to revamp their squad under their new ownership in order to try and get closer to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City next season.

Thomas Tuchel knows he has a big challenge ahead of him to try and mount a serious title challenge with Chelsea, but it is one that can be achieved if the recruitment is right this summer. It's easier said than done, of course, but a busy summer period, involving plenty of incomings and outgoings, is expected either way.

One move that could happen is the departure of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian forward has struggled to acclimatise to the Premier League upon his return, finding the net 17 times in 44 appearances. His misfortune in front of goal has cast doubt over his future in west London, though he's still managed to garner interest in his services from several top European sides.

He's subsequently been linked to Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and even Tottenham. Sky Italia claim that the Blues have given the green light to his exit, with the 29-year-old reportedly wanting to cut ties with Tuchel.

In fact, reports have now suggested that he's returning to London early in order to finalise his future. Most players are using the end of the international campaign as a chance to go on holiday and enjoy some time off, but Corriere dello Sport, via the Mirror, have suggested that Lukaku will return to the capital to try and resolve his future before the end of the month.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks and months, but as things stand, it looks as though Lukaku's Chelsea homecoming will be short-lived.
