Chelsea star midfielder Jorginho has been in the firing line from Italian media and fans after appearing to laugh at Sandro Tonali's interview in which he bemoaned a penalty decision going against AC Milan. It came after a controversial decision changed the course of the Champions League group stage match in the first half.
Former Blues academy graduate Fikayo Tomori seemed to hold back Mason Mount, who tried to stay on his feet long enough to get a shot off at goal. The referee pulled the challenge back for a penalty and then sent the defender off for a denial of a goal scoring opportunity.
Jorginho then stepped up to score the resulting penalty before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put the game out of sight with a second goal before half-time. It leaves Chelsea top of their group after an impressive turn in form under new boss Graham Potter.

Discussing the big decision that changed the game, the head coach said: "From where I am, I can’t really see too much. I could see that Mason was in on goal and if he’s brought him down, he’s brought him down. But I’ve not seen it back other than watching live. Clearly, that is a big moment for us.”
In contrast, AC Milan midfielder Tonali was bemused by the decision, telling Sky Sports Italia: "There are so many incidents like that during a game. When you give a penalty and a red card after 18 minutes, for a touch like that. We may as well make it basketball where any touch is a foul. It felt like that anyway, we had several yellow cards for ridiculous, embarrassing free kicks in the first half alone.
"Anyway, we have to look at the rest of the game. We tried to play with pride and passion, even if it was very difficult in the circumstances. It’s disappointing for all the fans who came here tonight, packed the stadium and expected a different match. We thank them for coming."
There was outrage from viewers though as midway through the interview, it cut to a video of Jorginho laughing while listening, making it appear to be the interview of Tonali bemoaning the decisions. This, however, was not the case as he was instead laughing at the pundits claiming there shouldn't have been a penalty.
The Italy international then shortly gave his view on the situation and said: "I think it was a penalty. Maybe not a red card, but yes a penalty."
