Chelsea star 'determined' to join Manchester United and other transfer rumours

Christian Pulisic is destined to join Manchester United in January, according to reports. Talk had emerged over the summer about the possibility of Chelsea offloading the 24-year-old.

Billed as the poster boy of United States football, Pulisic has impressed at the World Cup in Qatar. The winger capitalised on a man-of-the-match performance against England by scoring the winner to beat Iran 1-0 and send his country to the knockout rounds.

Glimpses of Pulisic’s quality have always been on show since his big-money move to the Premier League from Borussia Dortmund. However, struggling to play a regular run of games has haltered his development and, with 18 months left on his current deal, a move away could suit all parties.

Signing from a rival Premier League club could prove difficult but Italian outlet Calciomercato has claimed Pulisic is set to join Erik ten Hag’s revolution at Old Trafford. In 2017, the American revealed he was a United fan growing up.

"I was a big Manchester United fan when I was younger," Pulisic told ESPN. "I loved to watch (Wayne) Rooney. I wouldn't say I'm a similar player, though. I think his passion for the game is something you don't see much in players. That's what I loved about him."

Elsewhere, another Italian publication, Torino Granata, is reporting that the Red Devils will rival Leeds United and Roma to sign Torino midfielder Sasa Lukic. The Serbian is on international duty at the World Cup and, like Pulisic, also has 18 months remaining on his contract.

A well-rounded midfielder, no offers are understood to have been submitted for the 26-year-old. Lukic would be seen as a considerably cheaper alternative to Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong.
