Chelsea are said to be on the verge of completing their first January signing before the transfer window has officially opened.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are closing in on the signing of talented young striker David Datro Fofana from Molde. The 19-year-old, who is also a target for Brighton, looks set to become a Chelsea player in the near future in a deal worth around €10million (£8.6million).
Playing in the Norwegian top-flight for Molde, the Ivorian teenager has already proven he has the talent for a top team to take a punt on him. So far this season, Fofana has scored 15 goals and registered five assists in the league.

You rarely see a centre-forward take any number below No. 7. Unfortunately for Fofana, N'Golo Kante has No. 7, Mateo Kovacic has No. 8, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is No. 9 and Christian Pulisic dons the No. 10 shirt.
The No. 11 shirt is available, however, following Timo Werner's departure in the summer. Of course, that shirt number has quite the heritage at Stamford Bridge, with fellow Ivorian Didier Drogba previously rocking it.
The No. 15 is also free for Fofana to take. Nobody has worn the number since Kurt Zouma left the club in 2021, with Victor Moses the previous occupier.
