Chelsea set to receive £265m transfer windfall with nine planned summer exits

Chelsea's squad for the start of the 2023/24 season could see further changes to the current crop. The Blues have been one of the busiest clubs in the previous two transfer windows since Todd Boehly's £4.25bn takeover in 2022.

£320m was spent in the January transfer window following a £280m overhaul of the squad in the summer. A mixture of youth and experience have been implemented within Graham Potter's squad, with the club smashing their club record for Enzo Fernandez on deadline day.

Seven new faces arrived over the course of January in the last opportunity to rescue the west Londoners' season. Chelsea currently sit ninth in the Premier League table and find themselves 10 points off the UEFA Champions League places.

As often comes with the challenge of keeping a large squad happy, the constant revolving door of incomings means players will have to be sold to trim the squad and to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. With not much time passed since the January window slammed shut, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic have been linked with moves away. But more players are set to face the chop in the summer.

According to ESPN, the Blues are set to cut ties with a number of players at the end of the season. Many of the players that have been named are either completely out of favour or entering the final year of their contracts at SW6.

Pulisic, Aubameyang, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic, who all see their current deals expire in 2024, have been named in the report on the list to have their future considered. The latter two are regulars under Potter this season but contract negotiations have stalled in recent weeks.

football.london understands that Mount's future will be considered once negotiations over a new deal are ironed out. The playmaker is said to be keen on increasing his wages after the big salaries offered to the new recruits.

Hakim Ziyech, who saw his loan move to PSG fall through in January, is also facing an uncertain future whilst summer signing Kalidou Koulibaly's short-lived spell in England could be coming to an abrupt end following the arrival of Benoit Badiashile.

The future of N'Golo Kante also remains up in the air. The midfielder's current deal is set to end in June and there had been increasing confidence that the Frenchman would extend his stay. However, with less than five months remaining, talks remain in a deadlock whilst Kante recovers from injury.

And finally, Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi. According to ESPN, the pair will be made available when they return from their respective loan spells with Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen. The Cobham graduate is likely to seek a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge after failing to cement a regular place at Chelsea.

After two consecutive busy windows, Chelsea are preparing for another hectic period in the transfer market.
