Chelsea set for Yeremy Pino January battle as Blues star fails World Cup transfer audition

Your Chelsea transfer round-up on Thursday, November, 24.

Chelsea and Spurs eye Yeremy Pino

Chelsea and Tottenham have joined Arsenal in the race for young forward Yeremy Pino, who has impressed in La Liga with Villarreal. The Gunners first showed interest in the summer transfer window and Pino has now caught the eye of their London rivals, setting up a possible three-way transfer battle.

Despite Graham Potter's side sitting eight in the Premier League table are above just eight teams have scored less goals than Chelsea this season.

The 20-year-old was a key performer in Unai Emery's Villarreal side which reached the Champions League semi-final last season. Pino also contributed to 10 La Liga goals in the 2021/22 season with six goals and four assists and although he has just one goal this season he could be the spark Chelsea need in attack.

Ziyech blasted for Morocco display

The opening game on Wednesday from the Qatar World Cup saw Hakim Ziyech's Morocco battle out a rather drab goalless draw against Mateo Kovacic's Croatia.

Morocco, despite being the underdogs in the fixture, were on the frontfoor for most of the game with Blues star Ziyech providing some moments of quality, however his performance gradually got worse as the game progressed.

John Hartson who was on co-commentary for ITV, previously praised Ziyech but soon went back on his comments.

“I’ve not seen him (Ziyech) in the second-half. He’s hardly touched the ball,” said Hartson. Such was his uninspired display, the former Welsh striker thought Ziyech had been substituted,

“Did you notice that I said to you earlier on that Ziyech had gone off? I’ve just not seen him, I think he’s touched the ball twice."

It is believed Ziyech is seeking a move away from Stamford Bridge with AC Milan the team interested in acquiring his services.

Laimer destined for Bayern

Chelsea may have to turn attention away from RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer after the 25-year-old revealed he has set his heart on joining Bayern Munich in 2023.

The Austrian international has long been looked at by Liverpool and other European clubs after his marauding presence in midfield was noted, but he appears keen to stay in Germany, with Bild reporter Christian Falk stating that the midfielder wants to join Julien Nagelsmann's Bayern.

Laimer is out of contract in 2023 and can negotiate a free transfer away from Leipzig in January when he enters the final six months of his current deal.
