Chelsea set for potential £45m Hakim Ziyech transfer boost from impressive World Cup performances

Chelsea could be in line for a huge £45million transfer boost from forward ace Hakim Ziyech in the January transfer market due to the World Cup. It comes ahead of the 29-year-old taking part in the competition with his nation Morocco, where he is set to start despite his lack of club minutes.

Ziyech has struggled to lay claim to a first-team place since joining from Ajax back in 2020 for roughly £35million, failing to find a spot to make his own. His struggles have continued to link him with a switch away, failing to do so in the summer, though football.london understands the 29-year-old was keen on leaving Stamford Bridge with former club Ajax and AC Milan interested in his services.

His lack of games led to Rafael van der Vaart calling for him to leave the club to Ziggo Sport. He said: "I hope he goes to a club where he can just play and not worry about anything else. Ziyech is a boy that always has to play when you get him. Then you can say that Chelsea have so many good players, but guys like him do not like to sit on the bench."

Should the Blues look to offload Ziyech in the transfer market, the January window is just around the corner and could offer manager Graham Potter further windfall for deals. While he is valued at just £15million by transfermarkt, that could skyrocket further due to the World Cup.

The forward has joined up with Morocco for the tournament and has already stunned fans with a halfway line goal that led to comparisons with David Beckham and Wayne Rooney. Should he impress throughout the tournament for his country, a recent study shows his value could increase.

A report from Saxo shows that transfer value could increase by 300% after the World Cup, meaning his expected fee could rise from around £15million up to £45million. It would be a huge boost for the Blues when it comes to the transfer window, with January right around the corner.
