Chelsea sent warning over major FA Cup Luton upset following rare Thomas Tuchel failure

Luton Town veteran Danny Hylton has warned Chelsea that his side believe that they can secure a memorable giant killing in the FA Cup.

The Blues - runners-up in the competition in each of the past two seasons - travel to Kenilworth Road on Wednesday evening and will be aiming to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

Ahead of the match, Thomas Tuchel ’s men are overwhelming favourites despite coming up against a side who are currently challenging for promotion from the Championship.

Hylton has warned that there is plenty of belief in the current Hatters’ squad that they can cause one of the upsets of the round.

Speaking to Luton’s official website, the 33-year-old said: “It’s going to be a great game.

“It’s a great occasion and a nice distraction from the league. It will be a good day for the fans because last year against Chelsea there were no fans and against Man United [in the Carabao Cup] there were no fans.

“It’s an occasion that they’ve earned as well so they can go and enjoy themselves on Wednesday.

“It’s a game we’ll go into full of confidence and we’ll give them respect but if we do it right, we believe we can win on the day.”

Whilst Chelsea will be confident of chalking up victory, the Blues do head to Luton on the back of a major disappointment having lost to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Defeat to the Reds signalled a rare failure for Blues boss Tuchel, with the German having claimed the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in his year in charge.

Hylton has hinted that Luton will aim to harness their underdog status to continue Chelsea’s recent anguish.

He continued: “Luton love being the underdog. We love playing against a bigger team and people giving us no chance.

"It’s going to be like that on Wednesday, everyone else fully expects us to lose outside of Luton and our team.”
