We are now into the final week of the January transfer window and time is running out for Chelsea to complete any late deals.
However, it's understood that Thomas Tuchel is happy with his first-team squad and any late additions, as things stand, are unlikely - but, of course, in football, that can all change very quickly.
football.london understands that Chelsea are monitoring Ousmane Dembele's situation at Barcelona, with the Frenchman due to be out of contract at the end of the season.
Barcelona, via the club's president Mateu Alemany, confirmed last week that Dembele would be sold by the club before the end of the month after failing to agree an extension with the La Liga outfit.
Alemany said: "It is clear that Dembele does not want to continue with Barcelona. He does not want to be part of our project. We told Dembele he has to leave immediately. We expect Ousmane to be sold before January 31."
There are many clubs said to be interested in Dembele, but his wage demands could prove to be an issue, with the winger reportedly pricing Barcelona out of the contract he wanted at the Nou Camp.
This is something that former Manchester United man Luke Chadwick thinks would prove a problem and doubts anyone in world football will offer the Frenchman exactly what he wants.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, Chadwick said: "He is a hugely exciting player when he is on form - great speed, balance, skill on the ball. But with his wage demands I would be surprised if anyone in world football gave that to him.
"He needs to find a level of consistency and find a club where he stay for a period of time. He'd be an exciting signing for the Premier League, and that next move is a hugely important one for him.
"Obviously that previous relationship (with Tuchel) always helps a lot. I think in terms of the shape Chelsea play, I am not sure it would suit him. They don't tend to play with out-and-out wingers, it is more inverted wide-men.
"I am not sure that the shape would suit him, but then maybe a player like that comes in you change your shape to fit him. Overall, I am not sure I see Dembele at Chelsea."
Also, according to the chief editor of the Barca Times, Shay Lugassi, Dembele's agent is now in London to hold a "crucial meeting", fuelling speculation over a move to Chelsea.
What has Tuchel said about Dembele?
As Chadwick mentioned above, Dembele and Tuchel have a strong relationship already, with the Frenchman and German working together during their days at Borussia Dortmund.
Earlier in the month, Tuchel was asked about his former winger and it is clear that the Chelsea boss remains a huge admirer of the Barcelona attacker, despite the injury problems he has suffered with since leaving Dortmund.
"He’s a very good player, and I am very fortunate to have trained him in my time at Dortmund. It was only one year, it should have been longer, but I needed to leave and he decided to leave," Tuchel said.
"We are not in close contact, we have met here and there because of his duties for the French national team when I was in Paris. We exchanged some messages. I have absolutely no idea why he is in this situation, I don’t know the details, so it’s better not to talk."
