Chelsea sent clear Harry Kane transfer message as Tottenham star set for huge decision

Tim Sherwood has completely played down Harry Kane making a shock switch to Chelsea in the summer transfer window. The Tottenham striker is once again being strongly linked with a move away from north London after last summer was full of speculation.

Kane looked set to leave Spurs in the 2021 summer transfer window, with champions Manchester City strongly interested in the England captain, but Tottenham were determined to keep hold of last season's Golden Boot winner. As well as this, ESPN reported recently that Chelsea were tracking his situation last summer.

With Romelu Lukaku struggling at Stamford Bridge, the unlikely prospect of a swap deal between Chelsea and Tottenham involving Kane has also been mooted. Sherwood, though, is sure that will not happen.

Speaking on the Kelly & Wrighty Show, Sherwood said: "He won't go to Chelsea. He won't leave Tottenham to go to Chelsea or Arsenal, so it narrows it down to wherever he thinks he can best win."

Kane recently hinted that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is playing a big part on where the Spurs striker ends up, saying he is happy with how things are going under the Italian coach. "I feel like I’m in a great place. I'm 28 now, I feel like physically I'm in a good place," Kane said.

"I feel mentally, my game understanding and my awareness on the pitch is at a really high level from just gaining experience over the years. Antonio has definitely given me more strings to my bow. I’m always someone who tries to improve.

"When I’m 35, 36 I’ll still be trying to improve. That’s just my mindset. But for sure, I’m in a good place. It’s nice to be scoring goals, winning games, helping the team.

"Overall, it’s about working hard, keeping my head down. There’s always stuff I can improve on, whether it’s finishing, hold up play, passing. And that’s what I’ll continue to do. But for sure, I feel like there’s more and more to come. And I’m excited for that."
