Chelsea send Andrey Santos back to Strasbourg for second loan spell

Chelsea have confirmed midfielder Andrey Santos has returned to sister club Strasbourg on loan.

The 20-year-old made 11 appearances and scored one goal during a loan stint with the French side last season, after cutting short a spell with Nottingham Forest during which he made just one Premier League appearance.

Santos had been training with Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad during their pre-season tour of the United States but has left to link up with his former teammates in France.

Officials at the Alsace club were always keen to bring the Brazil international back, even after the departure of manager Patrick Vieira.

Liam Rosenior has since been appointed as his replacement and will have Santos available for his first season with the Ligue 1 club.

Santos is yet to play in a competitive match for Chelsea, who beat Newcastle to his signing in January 2023 from boyhood club Vasco da Gama for £18m.
