Chelsea sale takes twist as Aethel Partners 'submit £2bn bid' with Stamford Bridge plan revealed

London investment firm Aethel Partners have reportedly made a £2billion offer to buy Chelsea Football Club.

That's according to Matt Law of the Telegraph, who says that the London-based firm would 'immediately put £50million forward' to try and help the financial strain on the club at the moment following the sanctions imposed on current owner Roman Abramovich last week. It's also said that the bidders will offer 'full backing' to Thomas Tuchel and already have plans to redevelop Stamford Bridge on its current site.

Aethel Partners is a global private equity, alternative asset management and financial services firm. The company's headquarters are located in London and was founded in 2014 by Ricardo Santos Silva and Aba Schubert.

Santos Silva is a Portuguese businessman and invests in the financial, technology and mining sectors. Meanwhile, Schubert is an American entrepreneur, who also invests in technology and mining sectors.

However, their latest interest is in buying Chelsea Football Club ahead of Friday's deadline for bidders. Aethel Partners are not alone in their interest, though, with mass amount of keen parties.

It's been reported that those with a previous, or current, experience in running sports teams will be given preference by Raine Group, the organisation in charge of the bidding process. This is good news for the likes of Todd Boehly, Robert "Woody" Johnson and the Ricketts family, who all currently own or part own American sports franchises.

Nick Candy, a British property developer and lifelong Chelsea supporter, is also interested in the west London club. He is understood to be a serious contender at the moment, though, but there is definite interest.

"I've supported Chelsea since I was the age of four," Candy told Sky Sports before Chelsea's 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon. "My dad was asked to play for Chelsea. I love Chelsea. I don't mind where it ends up, even if it's not with me, as long as it's in safe hands.

"One hundred per cent [the fans need to be included in ownership] and they should be involved. Both on the board and economically."
