Chelsea sale: Key figure in Todd Boehly consortium reveals 'unbelievable' Thomas Tuchel plan

A key figure in Todd Boehly's consortium bid to buy Chelsea from Roman Abramovich has offered insight into what manager Thomas Tuchel's future would be under their leadership, describing the German as 'unbelievable'.

Boehly's consortium is one of four bids still in the running to purchase the Blues from the Oligarch, along with Steve Pagliuca, the Ricketts family and a separate consortium led by Sir Martin Broughton. Final bids are due to be submitted by Monday, April 11 with the successful party presented for government approval in the week of April 18.

The American billionaire currently owns 20% of the LA Dodgers and previously carried out due diligence ahead of a bid for Chelsea back in 2019. However, Roman Abramovich made it clear at the time that he had no interest in selling.

Abramovich is currently under sanction from the UK government because of alleged links to Vladimir Putin, who is currently leading an invasion of Ukraine. Abramovich has always denied these links but it has accelerated the need to find a replacement with the Blues currently unable to buy or sell players or even negotiate contracts.

It is a situation that has even left people speculating over whether or not Tuchel will be in the dugout next season. Some have even linked him to the soon-to-be-vacant Manchester United role.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Barbara Charone, a public relations expert involved in Boehly's bid, has sought to ease fears the Tuchel could leave under their reign and expressed hope he would remain in charge for a long time.

"I'm obviously really excited to be a part of the future if this is successful," Charone said. "I think we're in an unbelievable place. We have a manager that's been through a lot and comes out just like a saint. Not just as a football coach, but more importantly, I think, as a person.

"It's just the way he's handled everything. Even when being asked about the war. He's just unbelievable, and I hope he's a manager for a long time."

Tuchel is an enormous fan-favourite among Chelsea fans having led them to a second Champions League title in his first season in charge. Fans will no doubt take heart from the apparent plans Boehly's regime have for him, then.
