Chelsea sack Graham Potter and name interim coach before Liverpool match

Graham Potter has left his role as Chelsea manager following their defeat to Aston Villa.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion boss departs his position after just six months, following his appointment as Thomas Tuchel's successor in September.

It has been claimed that he has agreed to collaborate with the club and facilitate a "smooth transition".

Bruno Saltor will take charge of the Londoners as their interim head coach with his first game coming on Tuesday when Liverpool visit Stamford Bridge.

He departs the post after just 31 games and a 38.7 per cent win percentage. The west London club sit 11th place, 12 points off the Champions League places with a Quarter-Final in the competition on the horizon where they face Real Madrid.

In a statement published to the club website on Sunday, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said: "On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome.

"Along with our incredible fans, we will all be getting behind Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a Champions League quarter final ahead. We will put every effort and commitment into every one of those games so that we can end the season on a high."
