Chelsea's transfer stance on Kai Havertz revealed amid major £53m claim

Chelsea's January transfer window has been a busy one, to say the least.

The Blues have signed five players on a permanent basis this month in the form of Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk and Andrey Santos whilst Portuguese forward Joao Felix has joined on loan until the end of the season. That leaves manager Graham Potter with a huge squad and the former Brighton boss is likely to offload a number of fringe players to balance his side out in the coming weeks and months.

One player that has been linked with a departure is talented attacker Kai Havertz, who signed from Bayer Leverkusen for £72 million back in the summer of 2020. German transfer guru Florian Plettenberg had claimed on Sky Sports' transfer show, that Havertz's future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain, with a potential €60 million (£53 million) summer exit on the horizon.

However, as per transfer expert Dean Jones, the 23-year-old won't be leaving west London anytime soon, reporting that the Blues are extremely happy with the player. Speaking to Givemesport, Jones said: “I don’t think Kai Havertz will leave Chelsea anytime soon at all. They love him. They think he’s a brilliant footballer; he is a brilliant footballer.

“I know that he probably gets a bit of a hard time because of his body language and his style of play, but that’s just how he is. It’s not that he’s languid or lazy or anything like that. That is just how Havertz plays football.”

Havertz has featured 19 times in the Premier League so far this season, netting five goals and providing one assist in the process.
