Chelsea's performance vs West Ham is a wake-up call for Thomas Tuchel to avoid another mistake

Chelsea faced West Ham and managed an uncomfortable win. It was Christian Pulisic to send Chelsea over the line in extra time after a shocking Jorginho penalty miss.

West Ham fielded a weakened team with the thoughts of their Europa League semi-final match in midweek. It was not a match with glitz and glamour, but it was a much-needed win for the Blues. After the midweek 4-2 defeat to Arsenal, Chelsea were expected to show some sort of fight and give the Chelsea faithful an apologetic performance.

Thomas Tuchel cannot let their past short cumming creep up again into the present.

If the last two seasons have shown us anything, it's that Chelsea have not made it easy for their fans in the latter stages of the Premier League. They have finished 4th consecutively, but that does not tell the full story. Last season, the Blues were in pole position ahead of Liverpool to secure a top-four spot. However, as Liverpool progressed and their fixture schedule thinned, they were able to leapfrog the Blues to finish in third.

Chelsea had lost three games in their last ten matches. With six matches left to go in the Premier League season, Chelsea have already lost two games in the last moments of matches. Another loss might pull them into a top-four scrap yet again, but Tottenham may not feed us with good luck as they did last season.

It's pretty ironic talking about a loss after we have just won a football match. I know Pulisic saved the day and as a Chelsea fan, I should be pretty chuffed. However, the lacklustre 90 minutes of football has shown that the Blues are capable of another slip-up, and we should be demanding more.

Tuchel looked far from impressed with the performance today as he spent the entire first half seated. Quite the opposite from his usual animated personality that we often see on the touchlines. The lack of chance creation rendered the match a snooze fest for those watching at home and in the stands.

Luckily Chelsea was able to bring some life back into the fixture in the last 25 minutes, but only a Craig Dawson red card fuelled the Blues to grab the win.

Chelsea faces Manchester United, Everton, Wolves, Leeds, Leicester and Watford. Each match is a must-win with Arsenal and Tottenham on our tails, ready to drag us down into the fight, just as Arsenal had done by beating the Blues 4-2 in midweek.

Only five points separate us from our London Rivals. Let's hope for better, reassuring performances from Thomas Tuchel's men.
