There's something in the air. It's the same extra-terrestrial being from last season. I don't quite know what it is, but its presence only means one thing - Chelsea are winning the Champions League.
The Blues hosted Brentford and whilst the Bees are no pushovers, I can't say that I expected a 4-1 hammering. The West London Derby was a nightmare for Chelsea fans everywhere. Just when we thought we had one hand on the game, we were kindly humbled by Thomas Frank's men.
But in the words of Thanos, 'now is no time to mourn'. We have a Champions League to win. If last season has any say, we are right on track to securing a back-to-back Champions League win.

On the 3rd of April 2021, Thomas Tuchel had suffered his first defeat as Chelsea manager. It was probably one of the most humbling matches that I have ever watched as a Chelsea fan. The Blues lost 5-2 to West Brom right before their Quarter Final clash against Porto. Christian Pulisic arrived with the first goal, however, Thiago Silva's red card was the cue for the floodgates to open.
I'm sure many Chelsea fans felt the exact same way that they feel today. Emotions circling heartache, disbelief, and anxiety. How on earth were we expected to bounce back from such a loss on our home ground? The surprising part is that we did. And we will be able to do it again.
The Blues have a knack for causing severe upset right before marching on to win the Champions League. Let me take you back to 2012. Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Juan Mata, and Didier Drogba were left on the bench against Newcastle with an FA Cup final and Champions League final to look forward to. They won both.
I can go on about how bad of a result it was against the Bees. I remember losing 4-0 to Bournemouth just three years ago. However, after an international break, I can imagine that the Champions of the World were just rather rusty. By keeping Pulisic, Jorginho, Kovacic, and Reece James on the bench, it's clear that Tuchel is looking towards the Champions League tie on Wednesday. Chelsea will take on the only team that has managed to do what they can only dream of. Win the elite European Prize back to back. It's the Los Blancos legacy that the Blues are tipped to replicate. They just have to get past them first.
Prior to the break Real Madrid had lost 4-0 to their arch-rivals, Barcelona. They will have that result hanging over their heads as they travel to England. Both teams have had a strange lead-up to this match, but Chelsea has had the better run, winning 11/12 games since February. The Los Blancos have won just 6 in their last 9.
Asking fans not to worry is sort of like asking a lion not to devour its prey. It's just not going to happen. What we witnessed in our stadium today against Brentford was awful. It was difficult to digest and it will be for the next couple of days. Rival fans will be in our ears but not to worry. Wednesday 6th of April will be the day of judgment. Will the extra-terrestrial spirits do their job and create our route to the final, or are you reading the words of a mistaken superstitious football fan?
Let's wait and see!
