Chelsea's Eduardo Camavinga mistake highlights urgency for Thomas Tuchel's midfield request

What a brilliant player Eduardo Camavinga is. The 19-year-old is an absolute delight to watch. His talent was never in question when he moved to Real Madrid last summer. The question always was, is Madrid the right move for him at this time in his career. He will be entering a Champions League final, playing a crucial role in Carlo Ancelotti's squad.

Many fans could probably imagine him in their own teams. Chelsea fans, in particular, could use a dynamic, versatile player like him in midfield. Well, they actually had their chance to sign him last season. Thomas Tuchel reportedly wanted this move to happen himself, but the blues fell short for one reason or the other. They mustn't let this happen again.

The maturity and intelligence showcased by Camavinga is probably the reason why Tuchel wanted him in the first place. In his last year at PSG, the German stated that he would like to have the young French international in his team.

"Would I like to have him on my team? Yes, of course," Tuchel laughed. "But I can't talk about other players who are not from my team. He's one of the best players in Ligue 1. He's a great player, very strong, with a great future."

Get French Football News confirms that Tuchel was still interested in the young midfielder when he moved to Chelsea. They reported that Chelsea was indeed in contact with Camavinga's agent.

There aren't many footballers that would turn down the chance to play for the great Real Madrid. Their European heritage is something that young footballers dream of being a part of someday. It was no surprise that he had chosen the Los Blancos over the Blues in the end. I can only wonder what if Chelsea had acted fast enough. Would this world-class wonderkid have helped us over the line instead?

The land of 'what if' is not a nice place. This summer window, Chelsea mustn't make this mistake again. Another French midfielder prophesied to take the football world by storm is Aurélien Tchouaméni. This time around, Real Madrid will not be able to get involved. It has been reported that Ancelotti's side has been put off by the £60 million asking price desired by AS Monaco. Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool remain in the race for his signature.

The Blues should have the upper hand in this instance. They have been following Tchouaméni for well over a year now in the hopes of revamping their midfield options. Unfortunately, the only thing holding them back is the certainty of new ownership. Without the announcement of a new owner, there's not much that Marina Granovskaia and her team of negotiators can do. Chelsea cannot lose out on yet another generational talent.

MARCA reports that Tchouaméni has been eyed by Tuchel for a while. The Chelsea boss wants to acquire his signature at all costs.

If we get this across the line, we could be looking at building another team to reach another Champions League final in the next couple of years.
