Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and manager Thomas Tuchel are not on the same page regarding a pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports.
The Manchester United forward has made it known he wants to leave after just one year back at the club. A poor showing last term leaves the Red Devils in the Europa League and Ronaldo now wants to jump ship with the Blues among those linked.
United do not want to sell - and certainly not to a domestic rival - but Boehly, who recently took ownership at Stamford Bridge, sees the Portugal star as an ideal marquee signing. Tuchel though needs some convincing as he sees other targets as more important, claims The Sun.
Chelsea have seen a host of their defensive options leave on frees this summer. Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have both left west London, leaving the club light in that area. New recruits are being sought with Jules Kounde and Matthijs de Ligt on their radar.
Tuchel would also rather pursue Raheem Sterling from Manchester City with the forward weighing up his next move. Sterling is ten years Ronaldo's junior and would represent a long-term investment whilst his style may be more suited to Chelsea.
Romelu Lukaku did leave the Blues recently, heading back to Inter Milan on loan, but Tuchel was prepared to play with a false 9 last term. The Telegraph understands that Boehly intends to speak to his coach about whether they will go after the United man.

The American has taken a lead in transfer negotiations following the departures of Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech, but will allow Tuchel to back out of any deal. Boehly has met with Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, but by no means is a move imminent.
Lukaku's inability to suit the Chelsea system last term means Ronaldo is unlikely to fare any better with his lack of work rate in the final third long cited as an issue and something Tuchel may struggle to accommodate. Ronaldo could be forced to move abroad if the Blues do not follow through on their interest.
Bayern Munich have been linked with a switch whilst a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Roma has also been speculated. There has also been talk of a move back to his homeland as Sporting Lisbon keep tabs on his situation. Ronaldo left them back in 2003 but his mother has expressed a desire to see him play there once more.
