Chelsea's £300m attack gives Marina Granovskaia reason to hand Thomas Tuchel free transfer gift

Another game, another match where Chelsea's defenders seem to be digging them out of trouble.

The Blues faced Plymouth in the FA Cup where they just about managed to escape with the win. Thanks to a cheeky flick from Cesar Azpilicueta and a Marcos Alonso strike. A Spanish remontada to take Chelsea into the Quarter Finals.

The unfortunate truth is that Chelsea's summer transfer window will come with an attacking revamp. We have so many talented players in attack, it would be criminal to spend big with so many other potholes in Chelsea's team.

This is the exact reason why we need a free transfer to fall in our lap. We need Ousmane Dembele.

It is strange that the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech all started the match but failed to register a single goal. Kai Havertz and Timo Werner were later introduced into the game but shared the same outcome.

Aside from Lukaku's questionable performance, all of these players put up a strong display. They were just not clinical and creative enough to break through at the time. We've seen glimpses of what they can do given the right circumstances. However, this just gives more cause to get that extra creative attacker in the next transfer window.

Ousmane Dembele is Chelsea's only hope for a successful summer transfer window. I know it sounds bizarre. In fact, I know that not many fans would like to see him in a Chelsea shirt. Especially due to his injury history. However, a free transfer can only be beneficial for the Blues.

Chelsea needs to fill a possible five slots in the next transfer window. A right-back, left-back, forward, midfielder, and centre-back. An ideal window would have two midfielders, a centre-back and two fullbacks minimum. To meet this minimum, sacrifices need to be made and if one of those is a free transfer of Ousmane Dembele, then so be it.

Ideally, Jules Kounde would be the first transfer to make, followed by Declan Rice and Aurelien Tchouameni. Following their current market value according to Transfermarkt, this could accumulate to £157 million. This is without a right-back, left-back, or a second centre-back. It's not the most ideal situation to be in.

Thomas Tuchel has openly spoken about his admiration for Ousmane Dembele. The free price tag is what makes this potential deal even more appealing. What do we truly have to lose? Tuchel has worked with Dembele previously, bringing out the best of his creativity in the then 18-year-old.

I am all for backing Thomas Tuchel in the transfer window. If he says he wants this player to add to the attack, then so be it. Despite Dembele's sketchy injury history and unamusing goal stats, he's the creator that keeps giving.

We need an attacker with new ideas and different ways to truly unlock goal-scoring potential. An Eden Hazard-esque type player. I'm not saying he can fill the former Chelsea star's shoes. But maybe he will give us a glimpse of what we have been missing.
