Chelsea's 2017 FA Youth Cup win vs Manchester City: Where are the Blues' squad now?

Five years to this very day, Chelsea won the FA Youth Cup with an emphatic 6-2 aggregate victory over Manchester City. The Blues won the second-leg 5-1 at Stamford Bridge after the opening match ended in a stalemate.

Goals from Trevoh Chalobah, Ike Ugbo, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Dujon Sterling and Cole Dasilva ensured an emphatic 5-1 victory on the night. Jody Morris was the man in charge on the night and after the match, he spoke very highly of the group of youngsters he had to choose from over the campaign.

"I'm very, very lucky and privileged to be able to coach this group of boys - and that's not just the boys that are on the pitch tonight, there is plenty more of them sitting behind the dugout," Morris explained. "It's a group squad effort, and those that aren't playing would probably be involved if they were at any other youth team in the country.

"They're not only really good footballers that want to take the ball in tight areas, difficult places to play, but we are breeding a winning mentality here and they want to emulate the Chelsea sides that have won this competition before. I would back them at the highest level; I'm lucky enough to see them every day, but we've definitely got players here that can go to the top."

Morris wasn't wrong. Just have a look at the players who took part during that FA Youth Cup final victory five years ago today: Jamie Cumming, Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Marc Guehi, Juan Castillo, Tariq Uwakwe, Dujon Sterling, Jacob Maddox, Ike Ugbo, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi. Here was the bench on the night: Martell Taylor-Crossdale, George McEachran, Cole Dasilva, Marcin Bulka and Conor Gallagher.

With all of this being said, football.london takes a look at each member of the XI for Chelsea and takes a look at what they are doing with their career nowadays.

Jamie Cumming

Cumming, who is now 22-years-old, spent the first half of this season on loan from Chelsea at League One side Gillingham. However, the goalkeeper was then recalled from his loan spell and sent to another third-tier club in MK Dons.

The English shot-stopper has kept 12 clean sheets in 42 appearances in the league season for both Gillingham and the Dons. His contract at Chelsea is due to expire at the end of next season.

Reece James

Well, we all know about this man, of course. James has been one of Chelsea's standout performers over the past couple of seasons and has made a real case to be England's first-choice right-back at this year's World Cup.

Trevoh Chalobah

Likewise, Chalobah has been superb for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel this term. The centre-back looked set to leave the Blues on loan last summer, but Tuchel decided to hand the 22-year-old defender a chance in the first-team and he has more than taken the opportunity.

Marc Guehi

The one that got away. Many Chelsea supporters on social media have been rueing their club's decision to sell Guehi last summer to Crystal Palace, where he has flourished in his debut season at Selhurst Park. The 21-year-old defender's form has been so impressive that he recently earned himself his maiden England senior squad call-up.

Juan Castillo

Castillo is still a Chelsea player, but the 22-year-old left-back is currently on loan at Charlton Athletic. He spent the first half of the season with Birmingham City, but was then sent to Charlton, where he has featured just twice in League One. The Amsterdam-born defender sees his Chelsea contract expire this summer and could well be released by the club.

Tariq Uwakwe

Uwakwe, who is 22-years-old now, was released by Chelsea in January of this year and joined Crewe Alexandra on a permanent basis. The London-born midfielder has played seven times in League One for his new employers since making the free transfer.

Dujon Sterling

Sterling is on loan from Chelsea to Blackpool, where he has been a key figure in the Championship this season. The 22-year-old, who was used at right-back for the Seasiders, suffered a ligament injury against Nottingham Forest earlier in the month and has since returned to Chelsea with the problem likely to keep him sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

Jacob Maddox

Maddox was on the books at Chelsea until the summer of 2020, where he completed a free transfer to Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes. Nowadays, though, he is back in England, on loan at Burton Albion, where he has featured 15 times in League One - providing one assist in the process.

Ike Ugbo

Ugbo was sold by Chelsea in the summer of 2021 to Genk for around £3million. The 23-year-old striker is currently on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Troyes, where he has bagged three goals in the French top-flight since making the temporary move in January.

Mason Mount

Mount is now one of the Premier League's strongest attacking players and has been in superb recent form for Chelsea. The 23-year-old is also a regular in the England senior side under Gareth Southgate and could play an integral part in this year's World Cup.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Hudson-Odoi has the potential to be one of Chelsea's shining lights in the years to come, but the winger has endured somewhat of a frustrating season. The 21-year-old has featured just 15 times in the Premier League under Tuchel this term, albeit he has struggled with injury problems. There could be a summer full of speculation surrounding Hudson-Odoi's future once again, but Chelsea may be reluctant to let someone of his talent leave the club on a permanent basis.
