Christian Pulisic continues to face an uncertain future at Chelsea.
The United States of America star was left out of the Blues' squad for the dismal 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday. Pulisic has a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and it is likely the 24-year-old leaves Chelsea come the end of the season.
Having failed to play since April 15, Pulisic was taken off with more than half an hour left of the 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion before missing the next two games. He couldn't get off the substitute's bench in a 2-0 home defeat to Brentford and was not in the matchday squad entirely for the reverse at Arsenal.

Here, our writers have looked at what the future may hold for Pulisic...

The exit door beckons for Pulisic because of two reasons: he's coming to the end of his contract meaning Chelsea will want to recoup a fee for the player and the fact it just has not happened for the player at Stamford Bridge. Indeed, it's been hard for the USMNT ace given he was signed while one manager was in charge and arrived to be greeted by a different boss.
Since then, he has been coached by four different people including interim boss Bruno Saltor. It's hard to expect players to gel straight away - just look at the current crop at Chelsea - but Pulisic just has not delivered for his club and a fresh start could benefit the player.
He's clearly a talent, but there continues to be uncertainty given Frank Lampard will not be at the Blues come the end of the season. It's an impossible situation to call because Mauricio Pochettino will have his own views on the squad he is set to inherit if he becomes the club's new manager.
Pochettino may well want Pulisic to stick around so the player is in flux, but he's not the only one with some of his team-mates' futures also unclear.

It is difficult to come to some sort of conclusion regarding Pulisic's future at Chelsea due to the lack of direction the club is going in. No permanent manager appointed for next season makes it almost impossible to know whether he'll be part of the Blues squad next season, but the winger wouldn't be blamed for wanting out if he does.
Under Frank Lampard, Pulisic has hardly featured and after being left out of the matchday squad for the defeat to Arsenal, the future looks bleak. His time in the Premier League has ultimately been disappointing, yet there's still the feeling that there is so much to come.
A move to Europe and a chance to settle seems the likely outcome for Pulisic and the best one for all parties. Chelsea have an array of quality wingers at their disposal and with Pulisic’s deal at Stamford Bridge expiring next season, this summer is the club's last chance to cash in on him.

Pulisic's time at Chelsea has come to an end. After four years, both parties will be looking at the other and asking just why more wasn't achieved during their partnership.
A Champions League semi-final goal in both legs against Real Madrid, the first American to play in the Champions League final, an FA Cup final goal and a burst of form as good as any Chelsea attacker in the past five years, yet Pulisic remains an enigma for most. Despite his age, profile and undoubted qualities there is no way that this relationship can continue past this season.
Even Lampard, who helped him to sparkle in his first year in England, has turned from him in favour of younger, newer and shinier models. He will, like Joe Cole said, find a new team at the top level.
Pulisic is a player that deserves European football, he can be a star and will go on to have a brilliant career but at Stamford Bridge, as has happened with swathes of attackers before and around Pulisic, has eaten him up and made him just a part of something. This face of USMNT football couldn't be the same at SW6 and parting now is only right.
To make a profit on the books Chelsea only need to get over £12 million - a fee they will surely find from somewhere - but it will still fall short of the £54m paid for his services in 2019. Either way, with one year left on his contract and enough even partially interested clubs out there, Pulisic won't be at Chelsea next season and it's best for everyone that he isn't.
It isn't a blame game, it's nobody's fault, it's just the way things have gone. The same can be said for Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner is in the same camp.
Things just haven't worked out and it's best to stop hoping and start making a change.
