Chelsea have released a statement following the club's clash with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. The Blues condemned the inappropriate chants which were heard from a handful of home supporters.
An official statement reads: "Chelsea FC condemns the inappropriate chants heard from some home fans during this evening’s game. Hateful chanting has no place in football and we apologise to anyone who has been offended by them."
Following Tuesday evening's affair, Chelsea and Liverpool have now failed to score against one another in normal time in their previous four meetings. Both sides came close to breaking the deadlock on a number of occasions, but they ultimately failed to find the net.

Kai Havertz came the closest to scoring but his effort was chalked off by the Video Assistant Referee. The German found himself through on goal, one-versus-one with Alisson, before his initial strike rebounded back onto his elbow and into the net.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Havertz gave his verdict on whether the goal should have stood or not. He said: "With new technology I think it was pretty clear so I don’t know.
"It’s tough, I also scored at Anfield and it was small margins where the goal was disallowed so it’s not so nice to score, celebrate, have the all the emotions but then at the end you have to wait for the VAR, but that’s how it is and I have to accept that."
Then, when quizzed on whether the Blues should have won, Havertz replied: "I think so, especially in the first half we had lots of chances - me included. Second half I think it was tight maybe, in the first half we deserved to score.
"Again, zero zero, so that’s it. In the moment, especially after the loss at the weekend, we missed a bit of confidence. It doesn’t make it any easier in front of the goal but at the end we are all professionals so it’s our job to score, but now we have to prepare for the weekend and keep pushing."
