Chelsea ready to sell six players following record transfer spend as Arsenal keen on deal

Chelsea are ready to cash-in on up to six members of their squad following what has been an eye-watering January spend at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues rounded off a huge £323m winter splurge on deadline day with Benfica and Argentina star Enzo Fernandez becoming the eighth player to arrive in West London throughout the month. Their stunning business leaves current boss Graham Potter with a hugely bloated squad to choose from for the remainder of the campaign.

Some will have to be left out of the Blues’ Premier League side whilst a clutch of Chelsea’s January arrivals will also be forced to miss out on a place in their Champions League squad. Even though the dust has only just settled on the latest transfer window, Todd Boehly already appears to be putting plans in place for their next stage of operations.

According to The Guardian, as many as six first-team stars could potentially be sold in the summer to make room for yet more first-team signings. Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech is chief among those.

The former Ajax forward looked to be on the way out of Stamford Bridge on deadline day but saw a loan move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain collapse at the last second. A move could potentially be re-explored in a matter of months’ time.

Fellow winger Christian Pulisic could also be sold. The American has never quite met expectations in West London since a switch from Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea could also be tempted to cash-in on academy graduate Callum Hudson-Odoi. The wideman currently finds himself in the midst of a loan spell with German side Bayer Leverkusen but has not really impressed in the Bundesliga so could be set for a permanent exit - Arsenal having been credited with an interest.

Elsewhere, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is among those who could be jettisoned. The Gabonese only arrived from Barcelona in the summer but has endured a disastrous stint with the club so moving him on would make sense for the Blues.

Whilst all of those players are logical departures, there are also some surprise sales in the offing for Chelsea over the next few months. Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic is among those who could bid farewell.

The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan star was a key player for the Blues over recent seasons but with just 18 months remaining on his current deal, Chelsea might be tempted to pursue a sale whilst they can still recoup a considerable fee for his services.

Finally, Kalidou Koulibaly could potentially be set to leave the club. The Senegalese only arrived at Stamford Bridge for big money in the summer following an impressive spell with Italian giants Napoli. He has so far not managed to convince in the Premier League following a vast array of errors so could be very quickly moved on.
