Chelsea plot bid for Inter Milan star as Thomas Tuchel 'monitors' £30m Kylian Mbappe alternative

Welcome to our football.london CareFree Chelsea daily news round-up.

Maybe not the first. We've definitely done transfer round-ups before and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways, it's not that new at all.

Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

The Blues look to reignite interest in a familiar face that nearly joined under Antonio Conte, seemingly in a bid to solve the Romelu Lukaku dispute taking west London by storm.

Meanwhile, the Belgian has cemented his decision over his future as Thomas Tuchel's side targets a striker in Ligue 1, compared to and with a better record than Kylian Mbappe.

Chelsea eye Perisic deal

Chelsea are eyeing a move for Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The report claims that the west Londoners are interested in reigniting their amicable relationship with the 32-year-old wide-man ahead of a proposed move to cover the absence of Ben Chilwell via injury.

Perisic was linked with the Blues during Conte's reign at Stamford Bridge in a rumoured £29.5 million deal, according to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.

Our view: Perisic is a good player, don't get me wrong, and would probably have a decent impact at Chelsea, but he's also somebody who's past their sell-by date by a considerable margin - this is a signing I'd of liked the Blues to have made about five years ago.

Lukaku wants Italy return

According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Chelsea's club-record signing Romelu Lukaku has decided that he would like to return to Italy, having expected 'a whole different situation' in west London.

The report claims that the 28-year-old striker wants to go back to Inter Milan after struggling to a-tune himself to Tuchel's philosophies.

Lukaku's controversial interview to Sky Italia a few weeks ago sparked fury among Chelsea fans after the Belgian first admitted his desire to return to the Serie A.

However, despite the Belgian's apology that followed via club media, Calcio Mercato claims that Lukaku has decided his future, eyeing a return to his former side.

Our view: If the reason behind Lukaku's desire to return to Italy is what the report says it is, then I have no sympathy for the Belgian.

This summer, he joined a side who had just won the Champions, predominantly enjoying a lot of their success in a 3-4-3 formation - did he expect the whole dynamic to change just for him?

The only way he can win the trust back from fans is with performances on the pitch.

Blues target Ligue 1 striker with a better record than Mbappe

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Chelsea are monitoring the situation of Ligue 1 striker Hugo Ekitike ahead of next summer.

The report claims that the Blues have contacted Reims to express their interest in the 19-year-old striker.

Ekitike has found the net eight times this season, enjoying a better goals per 90 minutes ratio than Kylian Mbappe - a player who the France youth international has compared to before.

According to Sky Sports, the youngster has been subject to interest from Newcastle United in the past, after the Magpies made an informal offer but fell short of Reims' £30m evaluation.

Our view: I don't think this is the signing Chelsea should be after at the moment.

While Ekitike does have a better goals per 90 minute ratio than Mbappe, I don't think he could break into the Blues' first-team straightaway. Let's not forget we have Armando Broja doing really well on loan at Southampton.
