Chelsea player ratings vs Crystal Palace: Conor Gallagher inspires rousing comeback but Noni Madueke falters

Conor Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez both scored in stoppage time to secure a 3-1 win for Chelsea over rivals Crystal Palace.

Jefferson Lerma's 20-yard strike opened the scoring in the 30th minute during an impressive first half from Palace, which was dismal by Chelsea.

Gallagher volleyed in an equaliser just after the restart and swept home his second in the 91st minute after a spate of Mauricio Pochettino substitutions. Fernandez put gloss on the scoreline with his composed finish at the death.

Chelsea rise back to 10th in the Premier League table but remain 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.

Nizaar Kinsella was at Selhurst Park to rate the Chelsea players’ performances.

Djordje Petrovic - 5

The Serb was well beaten by a potentially saveable Lerma strike. His kicking was also slightly off.

Malo Gusto - 6

The Frenchman put in several dangerous crosses from his overlapping runs, including his assist for Gallagher’s equaliser. He did, however, give the ball away a lot.

Axel Disasi - 5

It was an underwhelming display with few moments of note.

Thiago Silva - 5

The 39-year-old was increasingly under scrutiny after back-to-back league defeats, losing by four-goal margins. He made one great block on a Jean-Philippe Mateta shot but came off injured after overstretching to make it.

Ben Chilwell - 5

The captain on the night led a pre-match huddle with the squad before kick-off but offered little in attack except for his 67th-minute shot.

Enzo Fernandez - 7

After his masterclass against Aston Villa, Fernandez scored another wonderful goal at the death here.

Moises Caicedo - 5

The British transfer record signing played well but was partly at fault for Palace’s opener after he was muscled off the ball.

Conor Gallagher - 7

After a flat first half, Gallagher arrived to volley in Gusto’s cross and equalise just after half-time, then sweeping home a pivotal second late on.

Cole Palmer - 7

An anonymous first half as a central striker was followed by an improved 45 minutes playing on the right wing. He set up the two late goals.

Nicolas Jackson - 5

A non-existent first half was followed by a better second as he flashed a header wide.

Noni Madueke - 4

The winger was Chelsea’s most potent attacker in the first half but was most at fault for giving away the opening goal. He was then substituted at half-time.

Substitutes

Christopher Nkunku - 5

The Frenchman did little after coming on.

Levi Colwill - 6

The 20-year-old came on for an injured Silva and dealt with a dangerous moment as Mateta ran in behind from a well-weighted through ball.

Raheem Sterling - 6

The winger wasted a good scoring opportunity shortly after coming on but was involved in Gallagher’s second goal.

Alfie Gilchrist - N/A
