Chelsea player ratings vs Crystal Palace as Kai Havertz wins it and Mason Mount struggles

Kepa Arrizabalaga – Had virtually nothing to do in the first-half – which will come as a relief considering the mistakes he's made recently. It was a similar situation in the second period, too. 6.

Benoit Badiashile – Looked calm and composed on the ball on his debut. There was a moment where he was barged by Wilfried Zaha early on that might have given him an early indication of the physicality of the Premier League. Overall, though, he did really well on his debut. 7.

Thiago Silva – Looked brilliant as always. A rock in defence. Where would Chelsea be without him? 7.

Trevoh Chalobah – Playing at right-back and looked really solid defensively. Unfortunately, Chalobah does not offer too much of an attacking threat but makes up for it when defending. 6.

Lewis Hall – Always looks a threat in offensive areas. Hall was unfortunate not to open the scoring around 40 minutes in. He was causing Nathaniel Clyne all sorts of problems. 7.

Conor Gallagher – Had a really positive first-half. He was constantly driving with the ball hit feet, trying to make something happen. A much improved display from the former Crystal Palace loanee. 7.

Jorginho – Started the game really well. Looked strong in possession and put in a couple of impressive slide tackles. Looked much more energetic than recent weeks. 7.

Mason Mount – Struggled to get into the game once again. He was trying to make things happen, but nothing came off for him. He looked very frustrated with himself. 5.

Carney Chukwuemeka – He deserved to start today but unfortunately for the midfielder, he struggled to get into the game. He couldn't make the same impact as he has in recent weeks when coming off the bench. 6.

Hakim Ziyech – A few moments of showboating from the Moroccan which was refreshing to see. Looked lively in the first-half and the one Chelsea attacker that looked dangerous every time he had the ball. 7.

Kai Havertz – Was very quiet again in the first-half. Had a glorious chance on 32 minutes but couldn't guide his header on target. However, he more than made up for it with a fantastic header in the second-half – proving to be the winning goal for the Blues. 7.

Substitutions –

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Came on with just over 25 minutes of the game left with Chelsea chasing a goal. His presence made an impact immediately after coming on and that's when Havertz scored his goal. 6.

Kalidou Koulibaly – Came on and played as a left-back, rather unusually. Did okay, not much to report. 6.

Cesar Azpilicueta – N/A.

Mateo Kovacic – N/A.
