Chelsea have been 'offered a deal' to sign Brazilian superstar Neymar from Ligue 1 giants and European rivals Paris Saint-Germain.
According to reports, the reigning French champions are open to selling Neymar before the transfer window shuts although a deal before tomorrow's deadline is likely to prove difficult.
The Daily Mail report that the Blues have been approached about signing the 30-year-old, who has scored eight goals and registered six assists so far this season. Neymar previously worked with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel in the French capital - reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2020 when they lost to Bayern Munich.
PSG are looking for imaginative ways to escape any FFP punishments, and would reportedly consider offloading either Neymar or seven-time Ballon D'Or winner Lionel Messi to avoid the wrath of UEFA, although the Brazilian star wants to stay at the Parc des Princes.
PSG have spent around £100m on Nordi Mukiele, Nuno Mendes, Fabian Ruiz, Renato Sanches and Vitinha as new manager Christophe Galtier has injected a youthful edge to his side.
The Parisians have also reached an agreement for £17m with Valencia for Carlos Soler, while Kylian Mbappe signed an eye-watering £650,000-per-week contract in May.
Chelsea are pursuing other targets and Neymar's price tag will make the deal difficult to complete before the window closes.
The Blues have spent over £150m on Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Carney Chukwuemeka and have since signed Wesley Fofana from Leicester as new owner Todd Boehly has provided Tuchel with substantial funds to improve his squad. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has also been heavily linked with a reunion with Tuchel.
Marcos Alonso could be included in a deal to prise Aubameyang away from the Camp Nou, after losing his place to Robert Lewandowski just nine months into his spell in Barcelona.
RB Leipzig's 20-year-old defender Josko Gvardiol has also been another name discussed as a possible target for Chelsea.
Angel Di Maria joined Juventus upon his release from PSG and Mbappe, Neymar and Messi are finally beginning to live up to expectations as a trio following an impressive start to the season.
Neymar has scored 108 goals and provided 66 assists since joining PSG from Barcelona for a world record fee of £198m in the summer of 2017. The Brazilian international has won 12 trophies, including four French Ligue 1 titles, but endured a difficult campaign in 2021/22.
He found the net just 13 times across all competitions and failed to score in any of his six appearances in the Champions League. But the arrival of Galtier has provided him with a new lease of life and Neymar has repaid him with an abundance of goals and assists.
The forward was involved in an astonishing five goals (two goals, three assists) as PSG inflicted a 7-1 drubbing on LOSC Lille and a further four goals (1 goal, three assists) against Clermont Foot in their opening game.
