Jorginho has received the offer of a new contract at Chelsea, the player’s agent has confirmed.

The Italian international will be free to talk to foreign clubs in January with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season and Standard Sport understands Barcelona retain an interest.

Newcastle United have also been tipped as a landing spot, while clubs in Italy could enter the fray.

Chelsea are committed to more spending next month and have communicated a willingness to Benfica to meet Enzo Fernandez’s £105m release clause.

The Argentina midfielder has been linked with a number of top clubs following a successful World Cup but the Blues are eager to steal a march on the likes of Manchester Untied and Liverpool.

England pair Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham are long-term targets too, though the club are open to extending Jorginho’s time at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Joao Santos said: “Jorginho’s contract expires on June 30, we have a renewal proposal and we give priority to Chelsea.

“Napoli represented our home in Italy, [Napoli sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli greatly appreciates the boy, for us it is a special club. If there was a new interest, we would be happy, but at the moment Napoli have not had contact with us.”
