Chelsea news: Xavi issues Ousmane Dembele transfer latest as Thomas Tuchel faces £33.8m decision

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Sunday, May 22.

Xavi issues Dembele update

Xavi has admitted that Barcelona's clash with Villarreal this evening could well be Ousmane Dembele's last game for the club. The Frenchman sees his contract at the Nou Camp expire at the end of next month.

Chelsea held an interest in Dembele over the January transfer window, but did not make an official move. The France international looks set to be available on a free transfer this summer, unless Barca can persuade him to extend his contract with the club.

"It could be [Dembele's last game], as for other players too, but he could also renew," Xavi said. "He's a decisive player. I really like him. I'm optimistic: I hope Ousmane will continue here at Barca."

Tuchel faces Broja decision

There are at least six clubs in the battle to try and sign Armando Broja from Chelsea in the upcoming summer transfer window. That's according to GOAL, who are reporting interest from AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Southampton.

Broja, who is valued at €40million (£33.8million) on CIES Football Observatory, has been in fine form on loan at Southampton this season, scoring nine goals in all competitions for the Saints. The Albanian has come through the Blues' academy system and has a contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2026.

Thomas Tuchel now faces a huge decision whether to keep Broja as an option for Chelsea next season or whether to sell the Albanian while he commands a sizeable price-tag.

Boehly told to sell Blues duo

Chelsea have been told to offload both Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic in the upcoming summer transfer window. Todd Boehly, who is yet to be confirmed as the new Blues owner, has a big summer on his hands at the club.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf, speaking to ESPN FC, via the Express, said: "Well I think our American audience won't be happy, but I think I would get rid of Mr Pulisic. I think there was a question mark about the fact that he was more influential with the national team than he is for Chelsea. And I think with the future of Chelsea, I don't see him playing a lot."

Meanwhile, former West Ham Unite goalkeeper Shaka Hislop added: "If I'm looking to offload attacking talent, I'm looking squarely at Timo Werner. One of the biggest earners at the football club.

"Though he has enjoyed decent runs under Thomas Tuchel, I don't think he's ever delivered. The challenge when you have a player like Timo Werner, who isn't producing and yet is one of the highest earners at the club, anyone coming in, that is going to be the bar."
