Chelsea news: Todd Boehly's 'personal mission' as Cristiano Ronaldo move discussed

Todd Boehly has reportedly made it his "personal mission" to keep Chelsea full-back Reece James out of the clutches of Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The Chelsea owner has dived into work after his consortium purchased the Stamford Bridge outfit in a £4.25bn deal. And keeping hold of England international James appears to be high on his to-do list as the American billionaire looks to tie the player down to a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

It comes as the Blues owner reportedly floated the idea of signing Cristiano Ronaldo during a meeting with the Manchester United player's agent Jorge Mendes. And Timo Werner has made his feelings clear after reports suggested the Blues could use him as part of a player-plus-cash deal for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.
