Chelsea news: Todd Boehly humiliated by Thierry Henry amid player concerns

It's been a chaotic couple of weeks for Chelsea, to say the least.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel was sacked 10 days ago and succeeded by Graham Potter, who failed to beat Red Bull Salzburg at Stamford Bridge in his first game in charge. That coincided with divisive comments made by chair Todd Boehly, as he suggested the Premier League should have an all-star game similar to the one played in US sports.

Chelsea aren't in action this weekend after their clash against Liverpool was postponed due to the Queen's funeral. That means they won't play again until they face Crystal Palace on October 1. Here are the main headlines from Stamford Bridge.

Henry calls out Boehly

Boehly didn't just suggest an all-star game during his recent public appearance. He discussed a wide range of topics, including the strength of Chelsea's academy - which has produced dozens of Premier League and EFL footballers over the last 20 years.

Boehly said, "We’ve got one of the best academies in the world. Our academy is Mo Salah, Kevin De Bruyne, Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Mason Mount, Trevoh Chalobah."

Did you spot Boehly's error? Although Salah and De Bruyne have both played for Chelsea during their careers, neither of them came through the club's academy. They were both signed for multi-million pound fees before being foolishly flogged to other clubs.

Boehly also insisted that the Premier League could learn a "lesson" from US sports, which angered Thierry Henry. The World Cup winner was clearly annoyed when asked about Boehly's comments and used the Chelsea chair's mistake to rubbish his proposals.

"A lesson?" asked Henry. "What’s that supposed to mean? What are they trying to teach? A lesson? Are you a teacher or something? The comment about De Bruyne and Mo Salah... just learn your own lessons and then come back and teach us something."

Chelsea looking to defend title

The new Women's Super League season started on Friday evening, as Arsenal hammered Brighton 4-0 at Meadow Park. Defending champions Chelsea's campaign gets underway on Sunday when they travel to Prenton Park to play newly promoted Liverpool.

The Blues are the heavy favourites to win the title for a fourth consecutive season, with star player Sam Kerr leading the line. They signed six new players during the summer - including Canada international Kadeisha Buchanan and Serbian midfielder Jelena Cankov.

Aubameyang "scared" by Tuchel axe

Kepa Arrizabalaga has revealed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was in shock after Tuchel's dismissal. Tuchel was one of the reasons why Aubameyang left Barcelona to join Chelsea after the two built a good working relationship together at Borussia Dortmund.

Aubameyang scored 79 goals during Tuchel's two years in charge of Dortmund and it was hoped he could achieve similar figures at Chelsea, yet he played just once under the German before his axing. It's claimed news of Tuchel's exit left Aubameyang in disbelief.

"The truth is that the first days he arrived a little scared. He was a little in shock, a lot of change," Arrizabalaga said of Aubameyang. "The last two or three days were very crazy for him, everything that happened to him was a misfortune."

Aubameyang, meanwhile, told reporters after Chelsea's draw against Salzburg: "Everyone knows the relationship that I had with Thomas. It's always sad when someone leaves the club. "Obviously, I just saw him for a few days. When you play football you have to adapt very quickly to some moments in the season, this can happen."
