Chelsea news: Thomas Tuchel sends Conor Gallagher message as Wesley Fofana contract revealed

Your morning Chelsea digest for Sunday, August 28.

Tuchel reacts to Gallagher red card

Thomas Tuchel admitted that Conor Gallgher must take responsibility for being sent of in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Leicester City, but was unhappy with the Blues' set-piece play that led to the incident. Gallagher brought down Jamie Vardy as the Foxes forward looked to attack Edouard Mendy's goal from the halfway line, resulting in an early second yellow card for the Cobham product

The Blues boss said: "Today is he is responsible for what he did. Of course, he knows it was a huge mistake. We spoke briefly after the game and things like this can happen.

"It's not purely his fault alone because it's a set-piece for us and it's sloppy how we take set-pieces at the moment. We lack belief and precision. We can speak it out clearly. It’s not good enough how we take set-pieces at the moment and on top of it, we give chances away.

"We are sloppy on the coverage, bad with the decision making how we cover the set-pieces. We have to stop doing this and improve immediately. We are on it with the team and I don’t know why it happened again.

"At the end of this chain is a decision that brings such a huge disadvantage. It’s a very, very bad decision from Conor and, of course, he is upset. Everybody was upset in this moment because it almost kills the whole football match."

Thomas Tuchel's dream Chelsea starting line-up

Chelsea have until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday to conclude their transfer business with the Blues heavily linked with a number of mouth watering prospects that could form a frightening squad for Thomas Tuchel to tinker with.

The west London outfit have already spent well over £100million this summer with deals secured for Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei and Gabriel Slonina, but could see their total spend near, or even surpass, the £300million mark.

The likes of Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana and Everton winger Anthony Gordon have all been linked with a move to West London. It certainly appears as though Todd Boehly is happy to keep the chequebook out over the final days of the window.

Wesley Fofana contract details revealed

Chelsea are set to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City in a deal that could be a world record one for a defender. It comes after weeks of talks between the two sides, with the 21-year-old making his intentions clear to Leicester that he'd like to join Chelsea.

The Blues have been in talks with the Foxes over a move for Fofana throughout the past month and have seen three previous offers rejected for the France Under-21 international.

football.london understands Chelsea returned with a fourth bid worth a guaranteed £70million and further add-ons that would take the transfer above the £80million that Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire in 20219. Leicester accepted that offer, and now, his contract details have been revealed.
