Chelsea news: Sir Lewis Hamilton joins Martin Broughton consortium and Cho linked with Blues

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Friday, April 22.

Chelsea 'interested' in Cho

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Angers forward Mohamed-Ali Cho, however, they could face competition from current La Liga champions Atletico Madrid for his signature. The 18-year-old’s contract with the French club expires next summer.

Cho has emerged as one the most sought-after young players in Ligue 1 this season and according to Calciomercato a host of clubs including Eintracht Frankfurt, Marseille and AC Milan are set to rival Chelsea and Atletico for his services. Despite a less than impressive record of two goals in 28 games, the Frenchman has shown much promise with his pace and dynamism in the final third of the pitch.

The Blues reportedly see him as a potential replacement if the much-maligned Romelu Lukaku leaves the club in the summer after a disappointing first season back at Stamford Bridge.

Hamilton and Williams part of bid to buy Chelsea

Formula One star Sir Lewis Hamilton is being joined by tennis ace Serena Williams in a bid to buy Chelsea Football Club, according to Sky News. The two international sportspeople are said to be joining the takeover bid by Sir Martin Broughton, one of three remaining bids for the Blues.

The seven-time racing champion and the former number one women's tennis player are said to have pledged £10million each to the bid headed by Broughton. Both Hamilton and Williams have been known to dabble in investment, having done so in the past few years.

Former Liverpool chairman Broughton is joined by Steve Pagliuca and Todd Boehly in the bidding race, with the fourth party, the Ricketts Family, dropping out as they didn't put a final bid in by the deadline of late last week. The sale of Chelsea comes after owner Roman Abramovich decided to sell the club following sanctions placed on him by the UK Government.

Chelsea's home form analysed

It was a question that caught Thomas Tuchel off guard when he faced the media ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace last week. Yet it was simple enough. Why is his side's away form this season so much better than that at Stamford Bridge?

"Is it like this? I don't know. Normally, the home game gives you an advantage," Tuchel pondered. "After the big success in the Champions League last season, maybe teams play at Stamford Bridge not to lose first of all, with a slightly more defensive approach, and we struggle a bit not to break them down.

"When we are away, our opponents also get pushed to win [by their supporters], and it opens up the game maybe a little bit for us. I don't know, it can be anything. Maybe it is because we feel the pressure. It can be bad luck, good luck, it can be not even worth analysing it.
