Chelsea news: Romelu Lukaku's performance criticised as Thomas Tuchel reacts to penalty

Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has been criticised for his performance against Arsenal by club legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Lukaku once again struggled to find the back of the net during the Premier League encounter, which finished in a 4-2 win for the Gunners. And following the game Hasselbaink was critical of Lukaku, saying the Belgium international "simply does not run around".

It comes as Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has spoken out about the late penalty that sealed the win for Arsenal. Elsewhere, Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams have joined one of the consortiums hoping to purchase the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Chelsea headlines.

Hamilton and Williams back bid

The Chelsea takeover bid spearheaded by British Airways chairman Sir Martin Broughton has been joined by Formula 1 and tennis legends Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams.

Roman Abramovich placed the Stamford Bridge outfit up for sale following Russia's invasion of Ukraine earlier this year. He has since had sanctions placed on him by the UK Government over his alleged ties to Vladimir Putin, meaning the club currently have to operate under a special license and cannot process any financial transactions.

Raine Group was placed in charge of handling the takeover and has now whittled all of the bids for the club down to a final three – with the Broughton bid hoping to be announced as their preferred bidder. World Athletics chief Lord Seb Coe, Canada's Rogers family, Taiwan's Tsai family and Colombian-American philanthropist Alejandro Santo Domingo have already joined the bid, which has now been boosted by the news that Hamilton and Williams are also on board.

Tuchel reacts to penalty

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says his players "robbed ourselves of six minutes for an equaliser" by giving away a late penalty in the 4-2 loss against Arsenal.

Bukayo Saka won the penalty before stepping up to tuck it away and seal the win for the Gunners, but Blues captain Cesar Azpilicueta was left angry at Saka for going down in an attempt to win it in the first place. Saka said after the game that the penalty may not have been given if he hadn't hit the deck – and Tuchel appears to agree with the Gunners forward after stating his belief that it was right that a penalty was given.

Lukaku criticised

Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has slammed Romelu Lukaku for his performance against Arsenal.

Belgium international Lukaku was substituted in the second-half after struggling to impress following a rare start for Thomas Tuchel's side. And Hasselbaink was left fuming at the performance as he insisted the striker has to show he is "bothered and that you want to suffer".

He also criticised the Blues attacker's work rate – insisting that it was obvious the player wasn't going to score.
