Chelsea news: Romelu Lukaku disappoints in FA Cup as Blues seek payback against Liverpool

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku doesn't have long to save his Chelsea career, according to Joe Cole.

The striker came off the bench in the Blues' 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday but failed to get himself on the scoresheet, despite a golden opportunity late on. Fortunately, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount were on hand to net for the Blues.

After the match, the former revealed Chelsea are keen to get revenge on Liverpool - who beat them in the Carabao Cup final - in the FA Cup.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Chelsea headlines.

Cole's warning to Lukaku

Chelsea's big-money summer signing Lukaku came off the bench against Crystal Palace and spurned a glorious chance.

Fortunately for the former Inter Milan striker, the miss didn't prove to be too costly as the Blues won 2-0 thanks to goals from Loftus-Cheek and Mount. But former Chelsea winger Cole has said that Lukaku's career at Stamford Bridge may be coming to an end if he doesn't turn things around.

"With Lukaku he wants to be that focal point but he missed a chance and we were in the studio [saying] if it's not going for you, it's not going for you," Cole said on ITV.

Blues seek final revenge

Loftus-Cheek scored Chelsea's opening goal against Crystal Palace and fired a message to Liverpool after the final whistle.

The FA Cup meeting at Wembley next month will be the second time this season that the two sides will meet inside England's national stadium for the chance to lift silverware. At the start of the year, Liverpool emerged victorious on penalties in the Carabao Cup and Loftus-Cheek has told the Reds his side wants payback.

"We saw it yesterday, we want to get them back, simple as that," Loftus-Cheek told ITV after the match.

Keane praises Havertz

Pundit Roy Keane is hard to please but has admitted he is a fan of Kai Havertz.

The German attacker has been a bright spot for the Blues this season and continued his stellar season against Palace, earning praise from Keane. The former Manchester United captain pointed out that the Champions League final goalscorer has an "arrogance" about him when discussing his displays for the west London club.

"It took him a while to adapt to the English game. Again, he's a talented boy, a big presence," the former Manchester United midfielder said.
