Chelsea news: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plots exit as Graham Potter justifies rotation

Chelsea appear to be slowly but surely turning the tide on their season following the appointment of former Brighton boss Graham Potter.

The Blues have not lost a game since they axed Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel and replaced him with the ex-Seagulls manager, with Potter's record now reading three wins from four games across all competitions. The most recent of which came at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Goals from Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja were enough to see of a Wolves side that contained former Stamford Bridge favourite Diego Costa who recently joined as a free agent. The Brazilian-born Spain international was given a warm reception from the Chelsea faithful, but in truth made little impact on proceedings upon his West London return.

Mirror Football has taken a look at some of the main Chelsea talking points in the aftermath of Potter's successful home debut at the helm.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly planning to leave Chelsea next summer in a bid to try and force through a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gabon international has been on the move a lot recently, leaving the Blues fierce London rivals Arsenal in January of last year to sign for Spanish giants Barcelona. He lasted just six months at the Camp Nou before returning to the capital with Chelsea.

Having cost the club £10million less than two months ago, it is unlikely those at the top of the Stamford Bridge hierarchy will be pleased with the latest report from French publication Foot Mercato touting Aubameyang with a switch to PSG so soon.

The report claims that PSG have already made contact with the forward's representatives to gauge just how realistic any potential switch is. Both parties are thought to be keen on the deal going ahead following the conclusion of this season.

Potter explains rotation for Wolves win

The new Blues boss made a remarkable seven changes to the starting line-up that brushed aside AC Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

After the game against Wolves, Potter was in high spirits and conceded he is lucky to be in a position where he can rotate so heavily for each game.

"Thiago [Silva] had a heavy cold at the start of the week but played against Milan," said the Blues boss. "Two days to recover is really short for him so we didn’t want to take the chance there.

"Ben Chilwell playing three games in a week recovering from an ACL injury, that wouldn’t have been the smartest thing to do to put him out there, especially when we’ve got Marc Cucurella."

He went on to justify his attacking tweaks as well, adding: "Raheem [Sterling] has had a load of football this season, so we thought it would be good for him to have a breather and help us at the back end of the game if we needed him.

"It’s similar with Auba [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang], even though he is in a great moment and forwards rely on rhythm, he hasn’t had that much football previous to coming to Chelsea and has had an injury."

Things learned from Wolves win

Chelsea barely had to get out of second-gear to topple a Wolves side that failed to lay a glove on them.

Potter's rotation and the return of Diego Costa had everyone talking before the game, but Pulisic's stellar display was a big talking point come the full-time whistle.

With the Qatar World Cup right around the corner, Pulisic could do with finding some form right about now after nearly two years out in the cold under Thomas Tuchel.

His second-half strike had the Blues fans up on their feet and judging by the look on his face after the goal, Pulisic has little interest in the recent speculation suggesting he could be Newcastle-bound in the upcoming January transfer window.
