Chelsea news: Harry Kane sends Mauricio Pochettino message as Atletico offer Joao Felix lifeline

Your Chelsea morning digest on Saturday, June 3.

Newcastle warning

Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales has insisted that the Magpies will are 'always going to spend' as much as possible under Financial Fair Play restrictions. Speaking at True Faith's end of season show, Eales said: "We are going to build for next year, but it's really important, as we build that team, we do bring in the right characters, the right people that fit there.

"We have all seen it with other football clubs. It's not just about the money you spend - it's about how you spend it. The weekend's game [against Chelsea] is a perfect illustration of that. You're in safe hands with Eddie and Dan [Ashworth] in terms of knowing what it is we're looking for.

"The reality is we are always going to spend what we can under FFP. I can say that to you hand on heart here. The club will always be doing its best to get to where we want to get to, but we have got to make sure we do it methodically, in the right way that is sustainable."

Simeone message

Diego Simeone has claimed that if Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign Joao Felix then Chelsea will have to submit a bid which is 'good financially' for Atletico Madrid. In January, the 23-year-old signed a six-month loan deal at Stamford Bridge to further bolster the Blues' frontline.

Speaking to El Partidazo De COPE, as quoted BirminghamLive, the Atletico boss said: "Joao is our player. If Chelsea don’t want to sign him as apparently Pochettino decided… he will be back here and he will be part of our team. I can work with him, I’ve no problem at all with Joao. He knows that."

Then, when asked if there's been any bids for Felix, Simeone replied: "Bids for Joao Felix? We have to see if the proposal will be good financially for the club, that is crucial."

Kane message to Pochettino

Harry Kane has congratulated Mauricio Pochettino on his appointment at Chelsea, but also hinted he may be staying at Spurs. The former Tottenham boss was unveiled as the Blues' head coach on Monday, signing an initial two-year contract with the option for a third.

Kane, who enjoyed a meteoric rise to superstardom under the Argentinean, was quizzed on his former boss' new job at Chelsea while at a Reuters event in New York. The England international replied: "Mauricio was an amazing manager for me.

"Great person, great, great coach. He helped me a lot to get to where I am now. So I’m really appreciative of him. Everyone has their career, everyone has their future."
