Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Thursday, May 12.

As per teamtalk, Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa is a firm Manchester United target for incoming new manager Erik ten Hag. Chelsea are also believed to be after the five-time Croatia international, whilst London rivals Arsenal have also been briefly linked.

Gerrard's verdict on age-old debate

Steven Gerrard has delivered his verdict on the age-old debate involving himself, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard and Manchester United hero Paul Scholes. The trio are largely considered to be three of England's greatest ever central midfield players - certainly of their generation - but that lingering question won't go away: who was the best?

Speaking to Scholes' former club teammate Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport, the now Aston Villa boss finally provided his answer to the question. Although he modestly failed to comment on himself, he did speak about the other two. Gerrard's answer seemed to favour Scholes for his natural ability, but he was entirely complimentary to the Blues' record goalscorer as well.

Chelsea sent Erling Haaland warning

Thomas Tuchel has been warned how Erling Haaland's move to Manchester City will impact Chelsea in the Premier League next season. The 21-year-old is set to join Pep Guardiola's side in the summer, subject to the agreement of personal terms.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Graeme Souness said: "The thing is about Haaland, when we talk about this calibre of player, yes he is one of the best players in the world at his age, his numbers are there to see, but imagine him playing in his Manchester City side. Yes, people say, 'okay his hold up play is not on the same level as what Manchester City are used to right now', but goals at that second post, just when you need something, a plan b, he is always going to add something different.

"People always talk and say Manchester City need a striker, they have one now."
