Chelsea news: Christopher Nkunku transfer prediction made as Premier League fixtures revealed

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Friday, June 17.

Nkunku prediction made

Former Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson thinks it is more realistic for Christopher Nkunku to end up at Stamford Bridge this summer than Manchester United. football.london reported recently that the France international is a long-term target for the Blues, but United have also been linked.

"I believe Chelsea is a more realistic destination than Manchester United if both clubs are genuinely interested," Johnson said to bettingodds.com. "A player going to a top team that’s had a really good season will be looking for Champions League football.

"I definitely think that’s where these sorts of players look first. If he was to leave RB Leipzig, then I think Chelsea could be a better fit."

Chelsea take on Everton in Premier League opener

Chelsea begin their 2022/23 Premier League campaign on the road as Thomas Tuchel takes his side to Goodison Park to face Everton on August 6 in the day's late kick-off.

There is another reunion the following weekend as Antonio Conte brings his Tottenham side across London to Stamford Bridge on August 13. That match will be the first official home game of the Todd Boehly era; the consortium led by the U.S. billionaire completed its takeover at the end of May.

The Blues then do not face any of last season's top six until September 17 when Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side travel down to London. It may enable Tuchel's side to build momentum as they attempt to close the gap to the Reds and Man City atop the Premier League.

Inter chief speaks out on Lukaku transfer rumours

Inter Milan CEO Alessandro Antonello has admitted that "technical problems" must be solved in order for the club to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. The 29-year-old joined the Blues on a club-record £97.5million fee from Inter last summer but his homecoming at Stamford Bridge has been far from ideal.

Now, Inter's CEO Antonello has now been speaking about the possibility of bringing Lukaku back to the San Siro. Antonello conceded there are some "technical problems" to iron out before a deal is possible.

He said: "Surely there is a great will of the player to return, the economic and financial feasibility must be checked and some technical problems must be solved. We will try to do it in the necessary time."
