Chelsea news: Callum Hudson-Odoi 'considering' switch, Thomas Tuchel sent tactics advice

Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi could switch his international allegiance from England to Ghana in time for the World Cup later this year.

The Blues winger made his England debut during the Three Lions' 5-0 win over Czech Republic in March 2019 but could still make the switch to playing for Ghana. He would qualify to play for the African nation through his dad Bismark Odoi, a Ghanaian ex-pro who spent much of his career with Accra-based team Hearts of Oak.

It comes as Thomas Tuchel has been sent a tactical message by Blues icon Carlton Cole amid Romelu Lukaku's struggles at Stamford Bridge. And Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta could yet be allowed to leave the club on a free transfer, despite his contract being extended by a year.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Chelsea headlines.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta could still leave the club on a free transfer this summer despite the defender's contract being extended.

But those plans may have been put on ice after it emerged the Spaniard has made enough appearances in a Blues shirt this season to trigger an automatic one-year extension to his current deal.

Although it has now emerged that he could still be allowed to walk away from the club for nothing this summer as a courtesy for his services to the Stamford Bridge outfit.

The forward also took part in an interview with Sky Italia last year where he revealed he is unhappy with his situation at Stamford Bridge, with speculation mounting over his future at the club.

But Cole believes Lukaku would be better suited to his side "playing a deep line and counter-attacking".

But players can switch if they have played no more than three competitive matches at senior level prior to them turning 21 including no appearances in FIFA World Cup finals matches or continental finals. and that means Hudson-Odoi culd be set to play in the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
