Chelsea news: £62m ace tipped for Blues move as Gabriel Jesus told to choose Tuchel over Arteta

Sterling backed to replace Pulisic

Tony Cascarino has backed Raheem Sterling, who is valued between €50million-€70million (£43million-£60million) by CIES Football Observatory, to replace Christian Pulisic if the Englishman joins Chelsea this summer.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino said: “I really thought that Pulisic would be a great player for Chelsea when they got him. I thought he’d really be a top player but it hasn’t quite worked because of injury.

“One thing that Raheem has got is that he’s very durable and, touch wood, he avoids injuries but he’s a very durable player. You can switch him on the right as well so he’s a little bit more versatile as a player.

“For Tuchel, I could see Chelsea attempting to get that type of wide man, absolutely. Why wouldn’t you? His numbers, he creates and he just stretches teams.

“Pace always stretches teams and if you want to be countering, Raheem is good in counter-attacking teams because he’s so devastating with his pace.”

Lukaku verdict

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has given his verdict on Romelu Lukaku's future with Chelsea. Speaking to Rte, the Spaniard said: "In Belgium we are quite relaxed with Romelu's situation.

"I know it is a big topic, but at the moment he is trying to recover from the injury and that's the only thing he has in his mind. If he stays at Chelsea it'll be for the right reasons.

"If he's moving away it will be because everyone agrees to it. Romelu is a player I know very well. I managed him at club level [at Everton] at a very young age."

"He was 19 and had a very different position than he has now. Now he's a player who's very mature and very clear what he wants. He wants to be important and enjoy his football. I'm sure the decision in the summer will be the right one."

Jesus advice

Stan Collymore has urged Manchester City frontman Gabriel Jesus to choose Chelsea and Ghomas Tuchel over London rivals Arsenal and their manager Mikel Arteta.

"There are rumours of Chelsea sniffing around as well and I don’t think Arsenal will be the only club in the race for him this summer," Collymore told The Mirror when discussing Jesus' future. "But let’s say Arsenal get him, my general worry and concern about Arsenal, as ever, is could we trust Mikel Arteta to get the best out of Jesus, could he be the manager who makes him fulfil his potential, if Pep Guardiola couldn’t? I don’t think so.

"But if he goes to Chelsea he could be the player Romelu Lukaku was promised to be but wasn’t. At Chelsea, they create loads of chances, they will stick the ball in the box and Jesus can be the fox in the box I’ve so often said they need.

"If Jesus just concentrated on doing some really good work in the box, he could be that man."
