Chelsea 'monitoring Joao Cancelo loan move ahead of bid' and other Man City transfer rumours

Chelsea manager Graham Potter is reportedly monitoring Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo's loan spell at Bayern Munich ahead of a potential transfer move in the summer.

Pep Guardiola exercised his stance of not standing in the way of any player that wishes to leave the Etihad Stadium in January when Cancelo was sent out on loan to the Bundesliga after becoming frustrated regarding his game time. Since moving to Munich, Cancelo has featured frequently and has already notched two assists.

Should they wish, Munich could make the move for Cancelo permanent in the summer with a fee around the £61m mark on the table. However, according to 90min, the German giants are not the only team who will be wanting the Portuguese defender's permanent signature in the summer.

The report claims that Chelsea are monitoring Cancelo's time in the Bundesliga with a view to potentially making an approach for the defender. The Blues are thought to be unconvinced by Marc Cucurella and may be willing to listen to offers for Ben Chilwell leaving the door open for Cancelo to make the switch.

Elsewhere, City has been named as a potential destination for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The 27-year-old has impressed for the struggling Serie A side but his contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign.

According to Calcio Mercato, Rabiot has entered into contract negotiations with the Old Lady but Juventus are concerned that they will not be able to meet the Frenchman's demands. The Italian report claims that a move to England may be Rabiot's only option if he wishes to receive the money he wants.

Manchester United were interested in signing the central midfielder in the summer but the deal fell through during discussions. The Reds as well as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern and PSG are named as the other clubs looking at the Frenchman.
