Chelsea Midfielder Enzo Fernández To Miss Rest Of Season

Enzo Fernández had groin surgery and will miss the rest of Chelsea's season.

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández has undergone groin surgery and will miss the remaining six games of the season, the Premier League club announced. Fernández, an Argentina international, had been dealing with a hernia issue since December. He was in the starting lineup for Chelsea's recent 5-0 defeat to Arsenal but was substituted in the second half.

The surgery to address his groin problem was successful, and Fernández will now focus on rehabilitation, ruling him out for the rest of Chelsea's 2023-24 season. The 23-year-old midfielder will be working closely with the club's medical team at Cobham to aid in his recovery.

This setback comes as a blow to Chelsea, currently positioned ninth in the league standings. Their upcoming match is against fourth-placed Aston Villa this Saturday, where Fernández's absence will be felt.

Argentina will be monitoring Fernández's progress closely, hoping that he will be fit in time for the Copa America tournament scheduled to take place in the United States in June and July.
