Chelsea manager news: ‘Unlucky’ Frank Lampard tipped to land new Premier League job

Frank Lampard will “definitely” get another chance to manage in the Premier League despite his subpar return to Chelsea, according to Glen Johnson.

The former Blues defender has tipped his old teammate to bounce back from a disappointing year in the dugout, which has seen him sacked at Everton before finally winning a game as Chelsea interim at the seventh attempt.

Some pundits have spoken about the damage Lampard is doing to his reputation having been parachuted in at Stamford Bridge.

But Johnson believes that the issues at the club go far deeper than the ex-midfielder, who he says has been handed difficult jobs on both his stints as Chelsea boss.

“I feel so sorry for Frank,” he told GGRecon. “He’s come to Chelsea during two s*** show periods.

“First time he came in as manager was when the club was under a transfer ban and now this time he’s come in when it’s more upside down now than it was back then.

“The two periods he’s had have been very tough but ultimately, people don’t care about the circumstances, they just care about the results.

“I think Frank will definitely get another opportunity at a Premier League club because I don’t believe everything’s been his fault.

“Even if the club doesn’t have a manager, then the players are still good enough to win a football match, so I just believe this is an unlucky period and he’s inherited a team that’s in turmoil at the moment and I believe it would be hard for any manager to stop.”
