Chelsea make transfer 'offer' for Noni Madueke as fresh talks scheduled for fifth January signing

Chelsea are in talks with PSV Eindhoven over a deal to sign promising young winger Noni Madueke this January, football.london understands. The 20-year-old is of interest to the Blues as further reinforcements for the forward lines are eyed in the coming weeks.

It comes after a turbulent few months for the west London club, who are still transitioning from an old regime to their new one after a change of ownership last year. A complete overhaul of the backroom staff was followed by new coaches making their way to the side.

The players are often the final group to be shuffled around, given the long contracts and time it takes to refresh a squad, however a new philosophy geared towards young talent is currently being pursued. Signing players such as David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos and Benoit Badiashile in this window alone is enough to show that desire to create a model for the future.

Madueke seems to be the latest to be pursued for the project, able to add plenty to the current first-team following a number of injuries within it. However, the former Tottenham youngster has struggled with absences himself this campaign for PSV, perhaps questioning his immediate impact if he were to join this month.

The Blues appear to be open to making the move work though as Dutch outlet ED reports that an opening proposal worth €30million (£26.6million) has been lodged. New talks with PSV are said to be scheduled for the near future, with the Eredivisie side open to negotiations, but not in desperate need of income following the big-money sale of Cody Gakpo to Liverpool.

It remains to be seen if a deal can be struck for the exciting winger in the next few weeks before the deadline, however pressure for the more immediate future seems to be building around the club's fanbase.
