Chelsea make Jorginho contract decision as crucial Conor Gallagher meeting will define rebuild

Chelsea are reportedly willing to allow midfielder Jorginho to leave Stamford Bridge this summer as uncertainty over his contract situation looms.

According to 90 Min, the 30-year-old has admirers in Spain but it is believed he wants a move back to Serie A. Jorginho's current deal expires in 2023 and like his midfield partner N'Golo Kante, both have questions over their future this summer as the Blues aim to rebuild under Thomas Tuchel.

Another name mentioned in the same report is Conor Gallagher, who has thrived on loan with Crystal Palace this past season, becoming one of the Premier League's most exciting young midfielders.

The academy graduate is to have a meeting with Tuchel in the coming weeks where the 22-year-old will make it clear he wants to fight for a first-team place under the German next season.

With a potential midfield revamp on the horizon, the return of Gallagher can hopefully provide fresh energy to Tuchel's system and the Chelsea coach has been very positive about the Cobham talent whenever asked about his development throughout the last nine months.

“It is too early to talk about that in public before we talk with Conor himself and what his goals are", Tuchel said back in November. "This will happen in the summer as we all agreed to the decision that we wanted to send him to Palace. He saw a possibility for him. I am not surprised the national coach loves him because I loved him from day one. Humble, nice, smile on his face and all the time ready to give everything, want to learn and improve.

"As a teammate I would have loved to play with him. It is a pleasure to know him; I am super happy that it has worked out so well. He needs to keep his feet on the ground.”
