Chelsea make approach for highly-rated Villarreal star Filip Jorgensen despite backlog of goalkeepers

Chelsea have made an initial approach for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

The Blues remain in the market for a new goalkeeping addition this summer, and Jorgensen is firmly on the west London club’s radar.

The 22-year-old is understood to be regarded as a developing player of high potential.

The Blues have made a feature of snaring recruits they consider to boast a large amount of growth, and see Jorgensen in the same light.

The Sweden and Denmark youth international kept six clean sheets across 37 senior appearances last season, and signed a new long-term contract last month.

Blues stopper Djordje Petrovic has missed the start of Chelsea’s pre-season tour due to injury, staying at home to rehab the minor issue.

Petrovic and Robert Sanchez competed for Chelsea’s No1 berth last term, though the Blues also have Marcus Bettinelli and Lucas Bergstrom on their books.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is back at Chelsea after last term’s loan spell at Real Madrid. Chelsea will hope to sell the Spaniard this summer, with Al-Ittihad retaining interest in the 29-year-old.
