Chelsea make Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger replacement plans amid takeover saga

Chelsea look set to enter their new era with a bang as they've reportedly lined up ideal Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger replacements.

The pair are destined for La Liga in the coming months. Christensen, who pulled out of the FA Cup final squad against Liverpool on the morning of the game is expected to join Xavi's project at Barcelona, whilst Rudiger looks to have agreed a deal to sign for their arch rivals, Real Madrid. Thomas Tuchel therefore needs Todd Boehly's consortium to invest in new defenders once the takeover is officially resolved and it looks as though plans are in place to do exactly that.

Chelsea are still waiting on the green light from the UK government as they search for an end to their respective club sanctions. Their sporting licence will expire on May 31, though the Evening Standard have clarified - despite last minute panic - Boehly's takeover has not been derailed and is on course to be completed by the aforementioned deadline.

Nevertheless, Boehly and co are believed to be ready to buy exciting duo, Jules Kounde and Alessio Romagnoli. The Blues were linked with Kounde ahead of the season and were understood to have agreed a deal worth around £43 million. However, the subsequent sale of Kurt Zouma to West Ham reportedly saw Sevilla's sporting director, Monchi, increase the asking price to £69 million to which Chelsea then halted their pursuit.

The France international's failed move to Stamford Bridge watered the blossoming of Trevoh Chalobah, who has grown into an integral piece to Tuchel's puzzle this season. Though, in the meantime, it's believed that the Blues retained interest in Kounde. Now, according to Goal, groundwork has been put in place to sign Kounde as soon as the Blues' sanctions have been lifted.

Meanwhile, as per Mundo Deportivo, AC Milan defender Romagnoli is also on the club's radar, though they face stiff competition from both Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Although Kounde has amassed his fair share of experience in recent seasons, at just 23, he still has plenty of time to grow in a Chelsea shirt. At 27 though, Romagnoli is a perfect example of how the Blues target ready made players and that blend of youthfulness as well as experience between the two could be ideal for Tuchel moving forward.
